Hello All,

Having some problems with .htaccess authentication. I have finally gotten .htaccess to ask for credentials when I access a given page. The problem is, no matter what I enter, I CANT get in!

I did 'htpasswd -c /etc/.htpasswd username and created the file with a password. I did this a couple times (subsequent times without the -c switch) for new users and they dont work either. It's almost as if .htaccess is looking at some far off place for .htpasswd instead of where I specify.

###.htaccess
AuthUserFile /etc/.htpasswd
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
AuthName "Secure Stuff!!!"
AuthType Basic

<Limit GET POST>
require valild-user
</Limit>

As I said, .htpasswd DOES exist at /etc/.htpasswd

what always helps is checking the error log file ... do you have read access to the files?
