how to use /dev/random utility


hi friends....
I know i m being very stupid asking it but can anyone help me out in using the /dev/random utility of the kernel.
Please reply ASAP.its urgent

Its not a Utility, it's a random data generator that can be used by programs. How do you want to "use" it?

For example, you can fill a tape/file/partition with random data by "dd if=/dev/random of=/tmp/test.dat count=1000".
Inside a program, you can open /dev/random as a regular file and read random data from it.
There is /dev/urandom too, which is not as good as /dev/random but it never blocks. Read the man pages.
