How to restore vsftpd incoming
 
Hi,
Whilst I was away on vacation someone deleted the incoming directory on our ftp server. All my research indicates that the server was not compromised, so I can only assume it was an accident by a stand-in admin.

Qs: how do I put back the incoming folder - just re-create it?
What permissions/ownership should I give it?

We have Redhat 9

I believe the default /var/ftp/pub directory is owned by root and has 755 permissions. Though for an incoming directory it would need to be writeable. However your permissions will vary depending on what type of access you are allowing and how you want your ftp service to work. For example do you want users to be able to see files in the dir or be able to create/delete files? Here is a good guide for ftp file and dir permissions and the implications for each setting:
