is it possible to create a password protected dvd/cd?

I was wondering if there is a way to make a dvd or cd that would require a password to mount, or perhaps one to access the root directory on it.
The only things I have found thus far are for incrypting the files, but would that carry over after burning them? Also, I dont want to have to enter a password for each file on the disk. Nor do I want to bother with zipping or tarring the files (to pass protect them) due to the hassle of untarring to access them (which just puts them right back on the computer, nullifying the reason of burning them).

I am running Slackware 10.1, KDE 3.3.

Thanks,
Kaz

edit: sorry for missleading thread name, would delete and repost, but dont know how or if I can. again, sorry for any inconvenience.

Kaz

The only feasible means of doing that I can think of is to use the kernel's cryptoloop. If you're using a journeling filesystem it's unsafe to use it but you can use loopback device support with the device mapper. It requires a kernel rebuild, but with it you could put your cd/dvd in the drive and have to use a password for the directory you mount the cd/dvd on in order to see it.

You could also use loop-aes, which works similar to cryptoloop. However, you have to compile a kernel module (on every machine you want to mount the cd on) to use it, which is a bit complicated.
