How Do I...? vsFTP uploading

Hello everyone,

I'm running vsFTP at the moment, and I am having one problem.

When I upload to the server, using SmartFTP for example, everything is uploaded as chmod 600. This means that when I'm uploading huge directories I have to go through each directory, changing individual file chmods to 755.
This can be a very tedious process.

Is there any way of making vsFTP accept the files and post them up on the server as chmod 755?

Yes offcourse. Use the /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf and see the line stating local_umask=022

See if this line is commented with the # character in front of it. Uncomment it. And change the numbers according to what you want. Keep in mind that umasks are defined as octal numbers. I.e. 022 = 755 and 177 = 600. Just substract the umask from 777 to get the permissions you want
