Hey "bscho",

For future reference as you may find this useful but most manuals /documentation post software installation can be located here:

/usr/share/doc/ therefore the "clamav" docs can be located at /usr/share/doc/clamav-0.xx.x where xx.xx refers to the version.

Also as for any command view the manual pages by typing
Code:
man xxxxx
where xxxxx is the command you wish to view the help / manual page for - thus
Code:
man freshclam
.

As "JOHN VW" mentioned read the web site instructions and importantly remember that "Google" is your friend...

Regards,

Rawcous!

Thanks I found freshclam would not run and your help with man freshclam.conf solved the problem.
Example
If this option is set freshclam will not run.
I had unset this and it now runs.

you DO need to be root to run it
AS IS STATED in the instructions

please READ THEM
and HOW!!! did you install clam?
Code:
su -
dnf install clamav
or
download from the web site and YOU DID NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR!!!!
they EXPLICITLY STATE!!!!!
to edit two files

so if you downloaded it from the web site
READ THE INSTRUSTIONS
and the instructions that the ERROR informad you too

the freshclam error would have told you to EDIT the clam and fresh clam file

to remove a "#"
