how can i know remote machines OS?


Hi,
I want to know any way by which i can see remote OS Fingerprinting report. I mean i want to know whether remote machine is running windows,MAC,Linux and which version of that OS?

Take a look at the nmap documentation. There is extensive explaination of how the fingerprint scan works. Basically you are looking for ideosyncracies in the way each OS responds to various types of packets. You can also do banner grabbing of services running on the machine (like http).
