How can I connect to a tty1 session remotely? (centos5.8)

I see that a tty1 session is open on a server i'm renting from when they worked on my computer. It seems that the session is still open after 4 days... I would love to finally understand what exactly they did after they logged in...

I setup a vnc server but I can't for the life of me find a way to alt+ctrl+f1 in any vnc viewer program. I'm using windows to run the vnc clients.

I also tried to setup ttysnoop, but whenever I type "ttysnoop" it says "can't connect to server" also, when I try to run "ttysnoops" (the ttysnoop server) it says "can't open pty" "Segmentation fault"

Help would be much appreciated. I feel like when I hardly get search results and I'm looking at webpages I've seen before I'm hitting my head against the wall.

Search for "retty".

* You probably want to ask them first if it's OK to re-attach to that session in case you fsck up something.
** You probably also want to log in over SSH (as unprivileged user of course) and then log in as root before you try re-attaching.
