home directory permissions get reset periodically, preventing use of apache UserDir

I did an install of mandrake 10 with the 'higher' security setting. when i set up
apache with the UserDir directive, i had to add execute permissions to home/*,
then i was able to access those webpages.

however, the permissions periodically get reset, preventing web access and i
have to chmod everything again. i already disabled the 'Periodically check
user directory permissions' option in mandrake's security settings and it is still

anyone know what is doing this or how i might be able to determine it?

Really sounds like msec still. Take a look at this howto on msec. Specifically the section on "Customizing msec with Overrides" is probably what your looking for.
