help with password
can someone please help me. A friend of mine changed my log-on password to my dell inspiron 600m laptop and i cannot figure it out. Is there any way to change it without logging into the computer?

You can log in as root and type passwd username where username is the account your 'friend' changed.

You can boot your linux box into single user mode by typing linux single at boot or by editing grub by pressing 'e' and type 's' at the end of the kernal line and press b

If it was the root password he changed (never give him root again!) then you may have to boot from a Linux CD distro and edit your /etc/shadow file.
