Unhappy help! have i been hacked?

after power down (because of a power break down)
var/log/messages
is empty
first not is:

May 2 10:52:17 ftp syslogd 1.4.1: restart.

is that nomal?

ext2 filesystem!

Nothing to worry I guess. Check if /var/log/messages.1, .2, .3 etc exist and messages.1 should contain your last messages.
