When configuring the Gnome graphical login for my Slack 10 install I've discovered another user, named postgres. Needless to say, I have not set up any other user than myself, although I did download postgresql from LinuxPackages several weeks ago. I will be running checkrootkit shortly...
I have been running firestarter, and have been very careful... or so I thought.
Sorry to make fun, but that is amusing. Suffice it to say that it is perfectly normal for an unprivileged account to be created when you install certain services (apache, mysql, bind yadda yadda yadda...)
