GRUB password

Who do I setup a password for GRUB, in order to keep the box from booting in single user mode by any dirty hand? It is a SuSE Pro 9.1

become root in the normal way "su -" and run grub.
give the command "md5crypt"
it will prompt you for a password, you will only be asked to enter it once, so make sure you enter it correctly.

it will then output an encrypted sting... this is your password in encrypted format.

open the grub config file /boot/grub/menu.conf with a text editor.

at the very top line, add the line "password=" directly followed by your encrypted password string.

for added securety, you should also set a bios password, and lock the bios to ONLY booting grub...
otherwise anyone could just boot a liveLinuxCD and change yourroot passwords.

but even with all this securetty, someone could just open up your case, and reset the BIOS jumpers.
