Gnome Lockdown
Hello all,
Previously in another environment we were using CDE, which allowed for some specific configuration that prevented all terminal access, but at the same time allowed users to execute shell scripts and provide input when prompted, browse the filesystem, view and edit files, print, etc.
In RHEL, when connecting to Gnome with Xming, I'm given a robust desktop environment, that I would like to lock down as much as possible. Particularly important to me is removing all ability to open a terminal. I do still need the ability to execute shell scripts, that accept input. I dont know that this is possible. I have found Gnome lockdown guides, but it appears to remove the ability to execute shell scripts when those settings are applied.
Of particular interest is the possibility of removing the "Open in Terminal" option from the Nautilus window.
I will continue to dive into the gconf options, but any advice or information is much appreciated.
Thank you
