Getting "Security System Warning!" Window in firefox
Using slackware 12.2, xfce, Firefox 3.0.16 and for the past few days i have been getting Persistent System Security Window that looks like MS Firewall and you can't click on the X or Cancel because then it activates a so called security analysis with green progress bar. I open a terminal real quick and issue pkill firefox command.
I have been trying to get to the basicconfig site to follow tutorial on firefox security update but that window keeps comming back. I emptied out my /tmp files but i am still having same problem and don't know what to do. Thanks |
Firefox 3.0.16 ??
you might think of installing the current . FireFox 3.6.3 do you have 'no-script' and 'ad block plus' installed ? |
If its not part of a slackware pkg I don't have it. Going to see if i can add them. Thought I cld not use i newer ver of firefox w/Slackware12.2

You might also find the NoScript extension useful; I always install it
http://noscript.net/; grab it through the FF Tools -> Add-ons menu |
Thank you, John, chism. Downloaded and installed slackware12.2 firefox3.0.19 security updates. Addons Ad Block Plus and NoScript installed fine added DNS filter. Able to search & read google.com and linux's basicconfig.com without bogus"MS Firewall Page trying to download something www2.something.xorg.
What an awful experience. Current reading: http://http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Sec...WTO/index.html Good building block info ;) |
