Hi all....
yeah, thought it would never happen to me. eckkk!
it did....
I haven't used this computer in like 4 weeks because it is my sisters...and I was the only one who knew the root password, but I was careless enough to forget about it.....and now I need a little bit of help!
Lilo is installed on this computer, so I am able to type
linux init=/bin/sh
which takes me to the init prompt.
I was told that I should remount / but when I tried it, it said that it was already mounted....
perhaps I should umount and then mount it again?
anyway....next step is to passwd -d root
which removes completely the root password from the system, so that I could reset it.
I typed this, and everthing was working ok.....changing root password, removing root password...passwd ERROR!!! other processes are locking the resources, passwd Error.
and that's where it ends, and when I tried rebooting and trying to login as root....I can see that it didn't work....Can someone please help me out a little bit?
I think I may be close, but I'm doing something wrong!
appreciate your help guys!,
