Forgot My Login Passwd how can I retrieve it
Hello my people
I haven't been home in over a month and right before I left I forgot that I had changed the password because I've had the darn thing for so long. Now that I'm back I can't remember the new password. All I need is a hint but when I get the invalid passwd message, the prompt wont even dish out any clues. How can I some how change my password or if there are hints where can I find them. Thank You AO! |
do you know at least 1 user/pw combo that works? if you can gain root access you can change the p/w, if the only user is root, um well shame on you.
if you have your user account, but forgot your root p/w sorry mate you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle. |
you can see "similar threads" at the bottom of the page, probably you will find a usable tip inside.

change your password for WHAT!!!
your computer ? your email ? a web site ? a computer operating system ? if so what one ? |
Is it your PC you can't log into? You can reset the root or user password even if you don't know either.

If you can open the terminal just type passwd and change your password.
Enter passwd 'as root' and that way it won't ask you for the current password. Than change your password:- http://tldp.org/LDP/lame/LAME/linux-...passwords.html http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-s...ssword-how-to/ |
