Folder share question...??
 

I'm trying to share a folder and not getting the results I anticipated on a QNAP NAS that runs NIX.

It seems this should be simple so I thought I would post here in the security section of the forum I hope this was the correct place, anyway.

Folder share is: /Web
sub folder is : /Web/user1
sub folder is: /Web/user2

I want to give permission to user1 and user2 only specific to their folders /user1 and /user2.

Shouldn't I be able to set user1 to only have permission to the /user1 folder (read/write) and not to the /Web folder (deny access) or does user1 need Read access to the top folder /Web in order to be able to have access to the sub folder /Web/user1??

I hope I explained that clearly...

Any help would be appreciated.

I found the answer to my problem.

The QNAP doesn't allow for this type of security...
