Firewall Question

I'm a Linux n00b just making a switch from Windows. I just recently installed SuSE 8.1 and it comes with a firewall. Does this protect me or is it a poor firewall? If not, what should firewall should I get? Keep in mind, I'm not running any servers or anything.

Windows XP has some kind of firewall for broadband connections if I didn't misunderstand that. But since it's from M$ I wouldn't really call it a firewall :-)

Thanks for the link but that's a little too difficult for me being brand new to linux. I just wanted to know if the built in firewall was sufficient or not.

i think u will find the deflaut firewall setup sufficent if u are just running a workstation on the net.
i have never used suse so i dont really know, if you dont want to dive into the difficulties of
iptables and all the rest of firewall creation just stick with what is deflaut.
I personally have not heard of that many complaints about the deflaut firewall.

so in a nutshell yes it is most likely sufficent for you

Ed.
