Question Firestarter problem- External network device sit0 is not ready

i use mandrake 10.1 and would like to install firestarter.but whenever i try to start it gives this error-
"External network device sit0 is not ready"
i use an external modem which is detected under linux.
what i need is a good substitute for Zone alarm as in windows. It should show me the events in real time.
any idea?
bill

I believe firestarter does have some kind of GUI for monitoring real-time events.

As far as the interface goes, what happens if you restart firestarter? Also make sure that the interface is up with the ifconfig -a command? Btw, are you sure you really need a sit interface (IPv6 encapsulation in IPv4)? Does ifconfig show any others, like eth0?

What other interfaces besides sit0 does it show? Does it show an eth0?
