Question Firestarter not running


Hello,To all

Great site tons of info here i would like to know if
someone here can help me with a problem i am having.

well here gos i installed this firewall called Firestarter,
thanks to the info from this site the install went ok
but when i try & run the FW i get this error

firestarter: error while loading shared libraries: libpopt.so.0: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

& yes i am trying to run as "su"

please help me anyone at all

Install this
And see if it helps.You will have to find it for your release,also see if it is allready installed.

First thanks for your time with my problem
now i would like to ask you.

should i use that file i am asking because

1) at the site it's this here

SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 for x86

but i am using Suse Linux 9.0 Pro ????

&

2) the md5 for there file is this here
internal MD5: 2215e927f70e342394ec72214803ce0a


but when i do a md5sum i get this here
66f310eee498958f83e223845b776746 popt-1.7-76.i586.rpm

now sorry i am not trying to be out of line here
but i am a newbie & don't want to do something
so dumb that i would need to reinstall Suse

oh & yes i have this installed

popt-1.7.70.i586.rpm

once again i thank you

Looks like you allready have it.See what happens when you try to open it like this;

Also is this the rpm you installed?

I just gave this a try

su
password
cd
firestarter

but no go same error

the one i installed is this here

firestarter-0.9.3-4.i586.rpm

now how would i go about uninstalling
firestarter so i may install the one you
posted

once again thank you

Just download it and then rpm -Uvh <package name> Been a while since if used
rpm's but I think that it.to check

man rpm
also use the tap key to save typing just do a
Code:
su
password
rpm -Uvh (now just enter the first few then hit tab and it will finish)

Hmmm will i installed the new one but i get
a new error like so

libgnome-keyring.so.0: cannot open shared object file:
no such file or directory

i don't think that firestarter likes me
so what do you say uninstall & forget
trying to install this firewall

oh by the way i do have it installed

Do you use gnome,firestarter is mainly for gnome,guarddog is for kde.If its not going to work I would uninstall it,try guarddog,or you can use iptables.

Good god could someone just kill me

ok here gos i uninstalled Firestarter &
installed guarddog but here i go again

now i get this error here

Checking for Qt...configure:

error: Qt [>= Qt 3.0] [headers & libraries]
not found. please check your installation!

config.log.

well i checked it & duh no idea what i am
to look for in there help me

oh & by the way as before i did a check & yes
it is installed well that's what YaST said
