I don't know anything about etherape, but
Firestarter is deprecated. I used to use it and really liked it, but, as I recall, the maintainers concluded that they did not have the resources to develop a 64-bit version and closed down the project about five years ago.
You might want to take a look a
gufw as a replacement.
