Hi, i'm having an strange problem. I have a folder called mp3 and inside it, there was some mp3 which are divided in folders.
One day, i noticed that one of those folder have just dissapeared (about 200 mp3). I searched for it but it was simply gone.
I tought maybe i had deleted it. But this night, happened again!!!!!! about 150 mp3 simply gone and i'm pretty sure that i didn't deleted it. Does Linux (Debian 3.1) logs which files are deleted?
I don't have access to this machine using ssh so i thing it's almost impossible that i have got hacked.

5. Before running reiserfsck --rebuild-tree, please make a backup of the whole partition before proceeding. Then run reiserfsck
--rebuild-tree --logfile rebuild.log /dev/hda1.
6. If the reiserfsck --rebuild-tree step fails or does not recover what you expected, please submit this as a bug report. Try to
provide as much information as possible including your platform and Linux kernel version. We will try to help solve the problem.
--rebuild-tree
This option rebuilds the entire filesystem tree using leaf nodes found on the device. Normally you only need this option if
the reiserfsck --check reports "Running with --rebuild-tree is required". You are strongly encouraged to make a backup copy
of the whole partition before attempting the --rebuild-tree option. Once reiserfsck --rebuild-tree is started it must finish
its work (and you should not interrupt it), otherwise the filesystem will be left in the unmountable state to avoid subse-
quent data corruptions.
nx5000, those mp3 are not important. I can download it again, i just want to know why they dissapeared. Is this a reiserfs problem?
The REAL problem is that i'm a web programmer and there is a folder in my computer where i keep all my projects, if i lose this, i will kill myself (lol).
I'm not using reiserfs. It should not happen..
Did you reboot between the moment when they were here and moment where they disapperead? Or did it happen without rebooting?
Are you doing some p2p?
at the first incident i can't tell you if i rebooted or not, because i don't know the exact moment when it happened. At the second incident, which happened last night, i didn't reboot.
I'm not doing p2p anymore, i got those mp3 on dvd.

Even if you weren't having problems with files disappearing, always ALWAYS keep regular backups of your projects on a separate file system or CD/DVD.
You will thank yourself for this someday.
