File permissions -rwxr-xr-x@

I am running leopard and seeing strange file permissions.

I have never seen an @ symbol in a file permission.

This stops me from ftp`ing or scp`ing the file anywhere.

-rwxr-xr-x@ 1 me staff 14K Dec 4 09:20 myfile.jpg*

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the file with "getfacl myfile.jpg". I wonder if the directory could be corrupted. What is the filesystem being used?

I apologize.

I didn`t mention I am in OSX Leopard.

There are other files there as well.

I can open the file and edit it in Photoshop.

Also, there was a permissions issue on the remote host that was stopping the transfer.

Still I am curious as to what this '@' symbol represents.

Hi,

I haven't upgraded to leopard yet, but I do believe the @ has to do with Leopards new "Time Machine".
It shows that the file 'holds' metadata.

Only thing I could find doing a quick search was this url. Maybe Leopards help on the Time Machine could tell you more.

Hope this helps.

Well here it is.

Other commands in Leopard have also become extended attributes-savvy.
For example, the ls command now displays a "@" character after the permissions string for each file that has extended attributes.

Hey folks thanks for the help.

The not being able to send the file was an permissions oversite on my part coupled with the '@' I had never seen before.

Problem solved.

Thanks again!
