Disabling mount option on stolen hard drive ?

Hello,

What I would like to do is make it so my filesystem on a partition can not be mounted except by a custom kernel which I would build.

I believe I read something about this before some where, a modification is done either to mount or the kernel making it so a person can not simple but in a boot disk and mount the drive.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

I'm curious too - isn't the only way to protect the data on a hard drive in case its stolen encryption? A filesystem is a filesystem and a harddrive is a harddrive aren't they - what works in one computer is going to work in another computer the same way.
