developing signatures for NIDS


Hello!
How to start writing/developing signature for Network Intrusion Detection with snort? Which tool you think is the best? Some links, hints and examples?.

I think you best start reading the "Snort Rules writing HOWTO".
Add Ethereal and about anything that starts with "tcp" to your toolkit.
