Deleted /var/log/messages, how to create a new one?
 

Hi,
I have accidentally deleted the /var/log/messages file and I have created an empty 'messages' file using the vi editor, however all my log files does not go into the the new file that I have created! How can I recreate the /var/log/messages file that works? Do I have to change the mode of the new file? Please help!

logrotate -f /etc/logrotate.conf

That solves the problem, advised by Hangdog42..
