Delete /dev/console
Theoretically, what would happen to the system if someone where to compromise my system and delete /dev/console?
A friend asked me out of the blue and I would have thought it would have got re-created, but I didn't know for sure.

It probably depends on which unix running. I assume this is going to be linux (after all this is linuxquestions.org). Then it also depends on what versions. Newer versions are running udev (instead of devfsd), which might recreate the file, depending on how its rules are configured.
I know this is kind of vague, but an open-ended question deserves an open-ended answer. The important thing is that it is possible for one to set up their system such that any such devices deleted would be recreated.

Yes, sorry it was only meant to be a question out of curiosity.
Thanks anyway.
