debian 5 - encrypting files - how to?

Hi all,

I`m looking for a software which I can use for encrypting data.

Truecrypt ! You can say...

NO! It doesnt work on virtual server.

I need a similar software to Truecrypt which can create / mount file containers and encrypt data on the fly.

any suggestions ?
