Date time changes unexpectedly

The date time in my suse linux 10.1 changed back to 2008. I did not change it. I'm wondering if it is just a system glitch or has some hacker gotten into my computer.

I run avast antivirus, and keep passwords difficult, and I always used a limited user. I also keep the op system updated.

How old is you;re backup battery ?
But mostly if it is old more things get lost in the Bios set up

Yes it is a very old computer.

That sounds likely. Thanks, I did not think of the cmos battery. I will look into it right away.
