Create special login shell Restricted access
I'm trying to create a user account which will only have access to that users home directory and nothing else. Do I need a special login shell? I'm running centos-release-4-2.1.

Check the LQ FAQ: Security references for "chroot" stuff?
|
in addition to chroot you should also have a look at "rbash" or "Restricted Bash"

That is a great reference, however chroot seems kind of extensive. I don't need to create an entire "environment" for a user, just a temporary login to access a file system and run basic commmands. I think rbash may be the way to go. Any good articles for rbash that you're aware of would bel helpful. Thanks!
