My suggestion was based on OP's post #9 "Yep, I`m trying to harden a web server against a DDoS or Dos attack"

But glad Lynis isn't in some sort of bad standing!

As TenTenths mentioned though, it's pretty hard to harden against a determined DoS or DDoS attacker in house. You can, but it gets expensive really quickly (equipment and network design). I hadn't thought about this in my earlier posts because I came from an environment with deep pockets and a very robust network environment.
