Closing a port in linux terminal..any command??

Hello Everybody

Here is the problem

I use netstat -a to check port status on my linux box.

My question

Is their any command by which i can close a port...simple n fast.

Or ipchains or iptables is the only option to do that.

you can stop the process that has created the net socket
