Changing Security Settings in RH 8.0
I can't change my security settings in Redhat 8.0 I have tried doing it in the gui program that came with rh8 in the security settings. and I have typed setup. I have looked around the forums and only found something about ipchains which is not running on my machine and iptables which i have shut off. My real problem is that only GAIM and the internet work. I can't connect to the redhat network for updates nor can i get internet radio on xmms. I have tried changing the settings but they have not budged ... after I hit ok i go back into it and its still the same thing<HIGH>. AM i on the right track trying to change these settings and if so how can I change them.

what it says when you go into it means nothing
it sounds like you have specific issues with certain programs, not security settings
are you sure iptables or ipchains are not running
iptables -L
ipchains -L

xmms won't play internet radio as redhat has disabled mp3 playback functionality due to patent licensing.
