Exclamation Changing GDM password Warning Message Behavior

Hi,
The login password for an account expires every 90 days and by default 7 days before you get a warning message. The problem is that the warning message only displays for less than 1 second! It's useless.

I've tried looking around on the web but was unable to find anything. I'm using RHEL6 and I was wondering if I could change the behavior of GDM and password expiry warning.

Some options:

1) Set a delay for X seconds before it continues with login... (so the user can read it)

2) Forces a user to press a button to continue (maybe with info on how to change it)

3) Gives the user the option to change the password now before it expires.

Thoughts ?

My first thought would be to check the documentation for settings that could influence timeouts, "less than 1 second!" is rather short;-p, and the GNOME GDM bug tracker and Red Hat Bugzilla wrt GDM for similar bugs or remarks. Also check the gdm mailing list archives which you'll find via the GNOME GDM web site. Maybe it could also be interesting (or not ;-p) to have a look at the actual GNOME GDM GIT tree, it's not uncommon for comments to hold pointers. That said, some conversations on the gdm mailing list point to GDM being "just a dumb interface" to what PAM offers and you know that with the move from GNOME2 to GNOME3 a lot of previously configurable options have simply disappeared and a 1 sec warning justifies filing a bug report IMO.
