Can I Confirm or Verify an md5 password?

I want to add an md5 encrypted password to GRUB. I've seen the instructions at www.mcc.ac.uk/grub_toc.html but I'm scared to try the md5 encrypted password (or 'hash') with GRUB in case I mis-typed when creating the hash and I end up locked-out! Each time I encrypt the same password I get a different hash - so how can I confirm or verify the hash before I use it?
Thanks
Mike

I would go ahead and do it

you cannot get locked out.

The password is only for changing boot args.
