Can't browse Windows computer because of firewall

Hi!

I use SUSE 10.0 and I tried to access a Windows computer through Samba. I can see all computers on the network and all of them can access my shared folders. The problem is I can't access theirs. The error message is:

Could not connect to host for smb://peter/

If I turn the firewall off I can view the other computers' shared folders. If I turn the firewall back on I can't any more.

I searched the forum for possible solutions but couldn't find any that solved my problem (maybe I should search more thoroughly...).

I you can help, please do. Thank you!

David

Try opening ports 137, 138, 139 and 445 for access from the Linux box to the windows machines.

I've tried it. It didn't work. It only seems to work if I stop the firewall.

Insert Iptables logging rules for traffic to/from that Wintendo box. You'll prolly see what gets blocked.
