Busy site, building security.

Hello

My site is getting very busy and I would like to make the server as secure as possible.

I would like to scan for open ports and close all the unnecessary ones. What is a good way of scanning for open ports?

How about doing things properly,

When securing a server, close all the ports then open only the ones you need.
