Hi,

I have just installed bittorrent on my linux mandrake and need to know how I should configure my firewall to allow for filesharing using bittorrent. I'm using the standard iptables.

I used drakconf and the firewall configuration (advanced) to allow tcp and udp connections to the bittorrent port (6881-6889) but even then my upload speed remains at 0 whenever I download a bittorrent
file and because the download throughput is monotonically dependent on upload throughput on the p2p network, my doenload speed is also bottlenecked.

Please tell me how to set my iptables to allow uploads through those ports ONLY.

opening this port range should be enough!
it works for me

i even only allowed connects on two ports cause i'm never downloading more than 2 torrents at the same time.. my firewall config looks like this:
ACCEPT net fw tcp 6881
ACCEPT net fw tcp 6882


(i'm using shorewall)
