anybody using firestarter firewall?
I ran across firestarter firewall on the net and was wondering what experiences people have had with it. My needs are simple , just dial-up ppp connection. Trying to wade through the docs on iptables is confusing and alot of the info is for networks and incoming services.
Far too complicated for what I need. Any suggestions for simple firewall. I looked at lokkit as I'm using RH9.0 but very little explaination of the resulting rules and they differ from other suggestions that I've read.
Thanks,
reddog

I believe firestarter, shorewall, and guarddog are all good easy firewalls. All of them essentially are gui frontends to the iptables formatting. Pick one and try it out...

Lotsa people use it. IMO ... It's perfect for your needs. That's assuming you use Gnome. If you use KDE, you might want to check out Guarddog

I'm running it under KDE 3.5. Should I not be doing that or is it that if someone prefers KDE, they may choose not to install Gnome and therefore won't have the supporting packages? I have both installed so I can switch back and forth to experiment, but mostly I run KDE.
