Question Any need for anti-spyware program

I know there really isn't any need for Antivirus software but is there a need for anti-spyware? Also is there a way to stop popups from happening?

Most browsers have a setting which will stop pop ups. Or you can download an extension to do that from the browser's sites.

There is, at this time AFAIK, no spyware for Linux. That is not to say though that the situation will always stay this way.

There's no spyware or adware as such as that I know of, but even browsers such as Mozilla / Firefox (amongst others) under Linux will still have vulnerabilities that can be exploited in phishing attempts, so it's still not wise to sit in your chair feeling immune to the nasties of the Internet! That said, you're a lot better off than under Windows, and although pop-ups are generally blocked by default with most browsers, newer tricks such as pop-unders can still be exploited unless you install an extension with a work-around.

But won't those vulnerabilities be present in Windows as well? How would I be better off with Windows? I'm very curious...

I think you misread the previous post A6Quattro. He said "you are better off than under windows"

And yes those vulnrabilities are their under windows.
