antivir and suse10

hi
I'm new to linux and have been posting in the newbie section and have been helped enormously...but this problem seemed more suited to this forum.
I have tried to install antivir on my computer running suse10 but to no avail.....I have followed the install instruction 3 times and the install is reported as a sucess but there is no icon an no entry in any of the menus. You have to hunt the GUI down to its file and then start it.....you can update but as soon as you shut it down it loose the files and needs to be updated again.also the avguard will not run.I have googled it but I have had little sucess....some say it will not work on suse others report errors with no update so i asume that they have a GUI loaded properly.I have tried the anrivir site but most of the threads are in German.
So is there anybody out there that can help?
By the way I have the grisoft for linux installed and this installed fine....but I would prefer antivir as this is the better option....maybe the AGV is the problem?

I suggest you use clamav. http://www.clamav.net/
It's especially for linux PC's, but it finds windows viri aswell.
