I want to know what a sysadmin for a Linux box is required to do.

I don't understand your question.

1) Do you want to know what a sysadmin for a Linux box is required to do.

2) Or what the system does as part of it's system admin tasks.

Also no 1 changes depending on what the company they are working for does. i.e a BANK then more security task etc etc..
