[PROFTPD] LDAP vs basic auth.
Hi everyone!
I've got just 1 question that's disturbing me: is it better to use LDAP for authentification on proftpd ? If it is... what features will it bring to me ? is it quite easy to set up ? To install i suppose i should get slapd (OpenLDAP) + proftpd-ldap packages (on Debian)... But to configure, i really don't know how to do it... i suppose there is commands for the ldap server that add, modify or remove entries, that's it ? where could i find them ? Thanks |
The only reason you would have to go to ldap would be simplified administration across the board for every app like samba ftp ssh etc.
And you have like 100+ users if not then its pretty much just a waste of time. Plus seting up ldap is a freaking pain by it self. |
