Quarterly LQ Zero Reply Drive
 

One of the main goals of LQ is to help members get questions about Linux answered. One way we help facilitate this is with the "Zero Reply" functionality, which allows you to easily find threads with no replies. As previously announced, we've made the "Zero Reply Drive" a quarterly event here at LQ. The latest LQZRD will start at 12pm tomorrow (LQDT) and run for 96 hours. During that time, I invite everyone to click http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...p?do=noreplies and attempt to answer as many questions as they can.

Keep in mind that if you'd like to search for threads on specific topics that have 0 replies, you can do so using the advanced search (Find Threads with -> At Most -> 0 Replies).

If you have any ideas on how we can further facilitate questions being answered at LQ, please let us know in this thread.

How do I unsubscribe? I can't navigate my way around this site, I'm not even on the same planet with this bunch of geniuses, so no use in my hanging around. I'm running PCL kde4 Full Monty, 'cause I don't have to be smart, it does everything I can think of right out of the box. Thanks for any help...

Feedback on LQZRD
 

LQZRD is a great idea, and hats (red or otherwise) off to you for doing this. I myself am quite new to Linux admin and LQ so after scanning many dozens of posts I'm sorry to admit that I couldn't help with a single one. Hopefully that will change in some future LQZRD. Meanwhile, it might be interesting for the LQ admins to correlate helpful responses with length of LQ membership time. For myself, scanning these ZR posts is itself a bit of an educational experience, however humbling. I'll try a bit more.

We're half way through the Zero Reply Drive and making very good progress. Thanks again for your participation.

Zero ANSWER threads?
 

I'd like to make a suggestion that I believe could help the effectiveness of addressing the zero reply list. One problem with answering ZR posts is that it makes them not a ZR post, anymore. Many times the OP does not provide sufficient information (perhaps because they don't know what information is needed). Many times, a reply simply asks for more information (hopefully specific enough). The OP can reply and fill in the gaps. But now it's not a ZR thread, anymore.

These "followup questions" are not answers. Maybe a menu choice where whoever is posting can indicate:
1. This is a further question
2. This is an answer
Might help. Then we call these "zero answer" threads because no one has posted an answer. A plus might be if a certain number (based on their posts and rep) of more reputable members click on sometime like "bad answer", the answer would not longer be counted and the thread goes back to ZA status. I've occasionally seen bad answers kick someone out of a ZR status.

Just some ideas.
