OpenWorm? OpenWorm!

Hello,

I'm writing code for OpenWorm this summer. Our goal is to simulate the entire C. elegans for the purposes of testing biophysical models at the level of single cells, of systems of cells, and of interaction with the worm's environment. Our current focus is on the nervous system and musculature needed for movement of the worm, but we're also working on modeling development and aging. More information is available on the links above and on the Kickstarter page linked below.

Our Kickstarter campaign has *only 2 hours left* and $6,000 to reach our goal. Donations fund engineering efforts in the project, pay for servers, and allow for expanding education and outreach about open science. Any amount helps.

Note: I am not in any way being funded through this campaign

This looks amazing!
Maybe this will shed some lights to neuro-biologists and the like.
I myself I'm studying a lot of science in 'middelbaar', you can compare it with high school in the USA.
I have a diagnosis 'A.S.D.' and more specifically Aspergersyndrome (They put autism and all the stuff around it into one name these days.), maybe this can (in the long run) make more things clear.

It is nowadays generally understood that autism and autism-related disorders are genetic and play in the brain.
In the end it's primarily in 'my head' although I'm quite clumsy from time to time most problems come from the psychics.

I can only thank you guys for setting up such a cool project.

Thanks for your interest

As an update to all: Our campaign was a success! We received $1076 in excess of our 120000 goal. Refer to the kickstarter page for information about delivery of pledge gifts if you have donated.

Keep an eye out for us, and keep exploring!

Where can we see results? Also make sure they are accurate by double checking because those type of systems can easily give false positives. :P

Hello Arcane, thanks for your interest.

I did not play a role in conducting the campaign -- was just doing some publicity. If you want details, I would suggest mailing the list https://groups.google.com/forum/#!fo...enworm-discuss, sending a question to info@openworm.org, or talking with our project coordinator, Stephen Larson <stephen at openworm dot org> .

On the other hand, if you mean the results for the project, most of our progress is documented through our github issues on various projects under here: https://github.com/openworm. A global view from all of the issue trackers is here: https://waffle.io/openworm/openworm
