What a fantastic, informative, and "must listen" interview for newcomer's and seasoned Slackware veteran's alike. I found that the interviewer's asked many questions that newcomer's to linux, Slackware (present company included) tend to ask here on the forums. Whether or not someone agrees with past/present/or future design and roadmap decisions of the project, it was nice to hear Mr. Pat V address these items in a comprehensive manner and eliminate much of the touted speculation that we see in the news and reviews of the distribution. Slackware 12? sounds like it will include major changes and I look forward to trying my hand at running a partition with 'current'.

I couldn't agree more. That was a great interview. It was great to actually hear from *the man* himself regarding Slackware and other more personal stuff that he is into outside of linux. Highly recommended!!:p

Really an excellent interview. Patrick covers many topics, including:

* history of Slack
* dependency checking
* Gnome
* kernel 2.4.x vs. 2.6.x
* LQ itself (woo hoo!)
* udev
* 32 bit vs 64 bit
* GPL v3

and not to mention banjo manufacturing, now that's hip! :D

Thanks for the kudos. As big Slackware fans we've wanted to talk to Pat V. for the longest time. He's obviously very busy and we're very grateful he took the time to talk to us. As far as the LQ references, LQ is a great resource to the community. Plus we're good friends with Jeremy. Speaking of Jeremy, we should get him on again so we can rehash those LWE Boston stories from this past April. :)

Thanks for the kind words guys! And, as always I'm happy to be on the show.
