New Linux Software Subforums Created
Due to increased demand in the Linux - Software forum, we have created Linux - Server and Linux - Desktop subforums to help categorize posts in a more logical way. As always, your feedback is appreciated.

Yes this is good idea to spilt the Linux-software into 2 subforums.
Maybe later on we will be looking at a differnt forum for Linux-Desktop-KDE/Gnome etc. And similarly for servers we will be have one sub-forum for apache ,mysql etc. regards |
Maybe it should be "Linux Server" and "Linux Workstation" since a linux laptop does not fit into either of those catagories. I only mention it because I am having trouble on my Slackware laptop right now.

Excellent idea.

Linux - Desktop is more indicative of the separation we were looking for. Between Linux - Software, Linux - Desktop and Linux - Laptops you have more than enough viable options for your question(s).

due to an increase in Multimedia popularity
due to an increase in Multimedia Popularity
and the very niche expertise and knowledge in this can we please have a Linux - Desktop Multimedia sub categorie for TV Tuners DVB cards DVD HomeTheatre and HiFi Linux systems (aka MythtV Kaffeine) |
Jeremy only ever creates extra forums or sub-forums if there is a requirement for it. There are relatively few multimedia specific threads created, also, adding more sub-forums would simply create confusion.

LQ Questions on *NIX Emulatosr ?
How do questions on emulators running in Linux -- such as DOSEMU, bochs and WINE)-- fit in with this LQ Subforums format??
Does one post emulator questions in the Software-Linux-Server forum, in the Software-Linux-Desktop forum, in the Non *NIX-general forum, in another LQ forum?? This reader wishes to get further information and see various questions answered concerning DOS and/or *BSD running in emulated software on Linux. TYIA for any response. |
Depending on context, either of the forums you mention would be acceptable.
