It's against the rules to advertise. This thread has been reported.

ctkroeker, as an FYI all threads in the Linux - News forum are moderated before they appear, so anything that appears has been explicitly approved by LQ. Based on feedback from the community we now allow non-commercial Open Source related site announcements. Thanks.

Oh, come on! This is hardly an 'advertisement' (its not like there is money involved). Its just a newsitem for a new Debian community website which, speaking for myself, I was rather happy to learn about.
There is an old Russian saying - the rules are for the cause, and not the cause for the rules. Don't you think so?
How about 'reporting' to common sense first?

I like the look of your site. Good work, keep it up!
Good customization there too. Doesn't look like Wordpress at all.

vees, I explained why it wasn't spam *and* he apologized for not noticing what forum it was in (and that was a week ago). What were you trying to accomplish with your post?

why? expressing my reaction at the *contents* of his post and not at the *location* of it (the only mentioned in his *regret*)
as for the timing of it - I just saw it a day ago.
what did you think I was trying to 'accomplish'?
