oh.. Seems Microsoft threat Linux vendor well.
A lot of software in Linux going to GPL3 (Include samba). Making this decision meaning that they want to kill the Linux vendor who join as their partner. At the same times, Microsoft able to take control them.

What a fantastic strategy. Kicking Linspire and Suse ass...

I don't think anyone should be surprised that MS is quickly backing out of their commitments with Novell and Linspire regarding GPLv3 code. This was, after all, RMS' and Eben Moglen's strategy to deal with the patent threats MS has made. I think we will see this whole issue come to a head when Samba 4 is released since it will feature Active Directory domain control functionality. Realistically, that is the last ace Microsoft holds in the server world. The introduction of a Free software implementation that attacks MS' core business in a market as fickle as that will likely push them over the edge and we can finally force them to put up or shut up...in the truest sense. They will either attempt a patent infringement suit against the Samba team (which is represented very well by the Linux Foundation and others) or they will play dumb and watch one of their strongest markets go away. The adoption of Samba 4 in the enterprise will really just be the gateway into a larger migration toward Free software. For those who wonder why the Samba team was so quick to adopt GPLv3, this is why. They know that in the next year or two their code will be the target of the most significant attack on software Freedom in history. (SCO was peanuts compared to this...)

So, any news from Novell or etc Microsoft's Linux Partner? I wonder their face look likes. Hopefully this will not impact their business since they have very good distro which can open up linux market as well.

Some people in the Linux community (most notably Linus Torvalds) have had somewhat divided opinions regarding how good GPL, v3 is. This is important proof that is a good idea. It is just too bad that it was not implemented in its current form a year ago, and we would have been spared most of this lawsuit FUD being spewed around by Microsoft.

Is Micro$oft clever or are Novell and Linspire just plain *Dumb*. They need to read more stories about getting into bed with the Big Bad Wolf. LMAO.

Anyway, they get money from microsoft(Novell get 345 million, at need to return 45 million only).

I say that this whole fiasco is the ringing sound of nails being hammered into the coffin of Micro$oft's monopoly.
They have made alliances with two companies they tried running out of business and they have made offers of the same sort to companies and projects that they have failed to hurt.

At first I was truly against the GPLv3 and considered switching to PC-BSD because of it.

However, as I'm beginning to look at the whole picture, the reason for GPLv3's creation was to stop all this corporate controlling BS. Yes, there will be a place for proprietary software, but it shouldn't be with Microsoft or any monopoly for that matter. Ensuring that Linux and its tools stay open will help in Linux's success.
